Lyons has never needed to fake character. The red sandstone under half the buildings downtown was cut by hand, from the ground it sits on, by people who took pride in the work. That same spirit runs through everything else here — the bluegrass and folk festivals at Planet Bluegrass, the independent shops and galleries along Main Street, a brewery that started in a small building and became a national name. Nearly every business in town is locally owned. Nothing here got made just to look the part.
We build the same way. A timber frame home should show the same honesty Lyons already values — sound materials, clean joinery, nothing dressed up to hide how it’s actually put together. That’s not a marketing angle. It’s just how this town has always done things, and it happens to be how we build, too.
We’ve already put that into practice here. The Aeppelleaf home is ours from the ground up — design, timber frame, framing shell, and straw bale construction, built for a client who wanted a home as honest as the town it sits in.
Lyons has rebuilt itself before, and did it with more grit and care than most towns could manage. A home here should be built with that same standard in mind: made to last, made well, and made by people who actually show up.

There are tons of design/build firms out there who can stick some boxes together and call it a ‘design’ – far fewer are they who have the gift of being able to thoughtfully and patiently listen to your ideas and hopes and dreams, to look at your drawings and the photos you have collected, to visit your site and carefully consider the arc of the sun, the lay of the land, the direction that the fierce winds come from in deep winter, and then to pull everything together into spaces and geometries that resonate with you, that cause you to know in your bones, “this is ME, this is US, this is IT”, and then to have the technical experience and logistical capability to turn that vision into physical reality. Elevated Design Build are true craftsmen as well as good human beings. Although their documentation is top-notch, I’d do business with them (again) on a handshake. I can recommend them without qualification.
