Custom Homes & Timber Framing in Masonville
Masonville’s own buff sandstone quarries built Northern Colorado, and they can be a part of your custom home too.
Masonville was staked out in 1896 on the promise of gold in Buckhorn Canyon. The gold never really showed up, but what did was the excellent building stone. Colorado buff sandstone quarries still operate here today, and it’s material we use on many of our projects. When we build with stone, there’s a real chance it came from the ground a few miles from where your home sits.
Sitting right at the mouth of Buckhorn Canyon, Masonville is genuinely rural. Elk and deer move through the ponderosa and juniper hillsides, and Horsetooth Reservoir is fifteen minutes away for anyone who wants it. Redstone Canyon, tucked behind Horsetooth Mountain with its own red-rock cliffs and 40-acre lots, is one of the area’s more distinct pockets. A home out here should match the same unhurried, built-to-last character as the stone quarried from its own hillsides.
From rustic elegance to modern minimalism, a Masonville home should feel like it emerged from the surrounding environment.
What Building Here Actually Requires
Working stone, right from the source.
Masonville's buff sandstone quarries supply material we use in our own builds. For a Masonville home, that can mean stone sourced from within a few miles of where your house sits.
Foothill terrain and acreage.
Rolling hills, rock outcrops, and larger lots (Redstone Canyon's are typically 40 acres) mean a home designed around the site, not a standard plan dropped into place.
Well and septic as the norm.
Municipal utilities aren't the default here. We plan mechanical systems around what your specific parcel supports.
Wildlife and forest cover.
Elk, deer, and the occasional bear move through regularly. Building here means designing with that landscape in mind, not around it.

His crew are perfectionists and take great pride in the fit and finish. The woodwork is magnificent, and the house is so tight that it hardly takes anything to heat it. We couldn’t be happier with the results.
